Dr Meyrick Emrys-Roberts - Founding President

Dr Meyrick Emrys-Roberts worked as a GP in Sherborne, Dorset and Walton on Thames.  During these years he had access to a small local hospital. Believing that this was an ideal pattern of care he began to write and talk about cottage hospitals. He was the first Chairman of the Association. On retirement he decided on the course of extensive research which has culminated in the publication “The Cottage Hospitals 1859 – 1990”.
